#15 of 31 Waiting

The house rests quietly
only the hum of the furnace
and the
    tap
    tap
      tapping
of computer keys
breaks the silence.

Chloe waits
patiently
looking out
her favorite window
as if
she knows

(although we haven't told her)

But soon
very soon
the silence will be broken

Gramma and Grandpa,
I missed you

  3. I love the way you built the suspense....and then...so the silence will be broken. This is good.

  4. The structure of your poem and the sound details built the anticipation perfectly... and what a lovely thing it is that's coming! I hope you enjoy the visit! :-)

  5. Loved the structure and sound of the poem. And the way you ended, revealing but not telling.

  7. Chloe is such an effective character in your writing. She is so much bigger than her fur and heartbeat. Enjoy your company!

  9. Chloe apparently is already waiting. Your description of the quiet of your house right now took me right there. I'm guessing the sound will change very soon. Enjoy!
